Student bank bother

I'm starting uni and am having problems opening a student account. Basically, because I did an Access course rather than A-levels, the bank is being funny about the information I've given them and so won't let me open an account. Is there any way I can get them to change their minds?

There is no reason why the bank shouldn't allow you to open a student account if your paperwork is all OK. But if you can't get satisfaction from your local branch, you should ask for a copy of their internal complaints procedure and take it further.
You might want to have a look at the NUS website for more help and information. They have a lot of experience in helping students and might be able to give you some practical help in talking to the bank.
Alternatively, you could consider approaching another bank. There are lots of financial institutions out there; you might find a different one is more willing to help you.
