Michael, 20 I don't like the police. I don't think anyone likes them. Some of my friends have been arrested, I don't know why though - they seem to arrest you for anything. If you have a little spliff, you get arrested. I get stopped by the police when I'm in my car because I'm young. I mainly feel they're stereotyping me.

Perry, 17 I don't like them much. I've had a lot of problems with them. I don't necessarily think that they act unprofessionally and I guess they do their job OK, but I think they need to stop picking on kids, because that's what they mainly do. They think that all young people are just selling drugs, but most of us just want to go to college and find a job.

Charli, 16 I think they kind of do a good job, but they spend a lot of time doing stupid things. They're alright - if I needed to call them, I would feel confident in doing so, although I am a bit wary of them. They were really horrible to my friend once when she asked them a question. They treated her as though she was a complete idiot, so I think they should spend some time on learning to be polite to people when they talk to them.

Elaine, 26 They do a fairly good job, with the means and the money they've got from the Government. I had to contact them once, when my car was smashed into. They didn't react very well to my call, but it was on a Saturday night, so they were all out, obviously dealing with other things. They told me to go to the local police station to report it, rather than them coming out to do anything. But I'm not sure what they could've done with a car- it's not like they would've swabbed it for fingerprints.

James, 23 I've never had any experience with the police but under quite a lot of restrictions, it's too politically correct. I'm not so sure about the selection process for hiring a police officer. I think that they're quite discriminatory, but I don't know enough about them really.
